#29 Run A 1/2 Marathon

On Saturday, July 28, 2012 I ran my first ever half marathon! A lady in my ward came up to me and told me that she was selling her spot so I decided to give it a shot. I'd been running a little bit, but nothing to prepare me for what I accomplished. I ran it in 2 hours and 37 minutes. Now that I've realized how slow that is, I guess I'll just have to try another one! Here are some fun pictures :)

Oh Deer....

So this morning on my way to work at 5:37am I hit my very first deer. He ran right in front of me and I didn't see him coming. I hit him on the front driver's side and he flew over the cement median (because of construction) and into the real median between the lanes used for driving and the one under construction. Needless to say, the deer did NOT survive. Dad and Jake had to tow my car away and I took Peanut to work because Moto Moto is severely injured. Thankfully, no injury or ticket. I will be exacting my revenge in October...Beware deer....

4th of July Freestone Style

I worked a grave the night before the 4th and it was a great prelude to my day! I had a blast with my co-workers :) After I got off of work at 6:00am I went to Plain City to eat breakfast with my Freestone Family. After breakfast came the parade: a Freestone tradition. I decided to sideline this year and take pictures. TJ and Kody drove Grandma and Grandpa's buggy, The Tiajuana Taxi, and all of the great-grandkids rode along.

It was also Aunt Margaret's 91st birthday that same week so Sharon, Grandma, and our family surprised her with a ride in Sharon's buggy in the parade with a sign on the front that read, "Happy 91st birthday Aunt Maggie!" It was really cute!

After the parade was the oh-so famous FISH SCRAMBLE! I remember doing it when I was little. It was so cute watching Trevin, Bostyn, and Ellee in the "pond" trying to catch their fish. After a few minutes I had to go in and help Trevin and Ellee catch theirs and Kody went in to help Bos. It was so much fun! I got splashed with a bunch of nasty fish water, but it was so worth it!

Another Plain City tradition is the 4-wheeler competition. What you do is ride around in a circle on 4-wheelers. One person drives and the other sits on the back and has a balloon taped on to their helmet. The object is for the person on the back to knock the balloons off their opponents helmet with long stick with the foam water noodles fastened to the stick. It is HILARIOUS! TJ and Kody do it every year. They won last year and were hoping to defend their title. They took 4th...bummer!

After we hung out at the park for a while we went back to Grandma and Grandpa's house. I took a nice long nap! The rest of the family watched tv. Went all went over to Uncle Scott's house for dinner and fireworks after. It was super fun because I played with the kids on the tramp and ate lots of yummy food. All-in-all, a great 4th of July!!!
