Antelope Island

So I was home for the weekend and my parents decided that we should all go to Antelope Island because we've lived in Northern Utah all our lives and had never actually been there. The island was so beautiful! We saw several buffalo up close. Seriously, I probably could've touched it if it weren't for my paralyzing fear of being trampled. I also saw some antelope, yet another first for me. We decided to go on the hike to the top of the mountain. Now, the hike is only 3 miles, but let's be honest, I am so out of shape it's disgusting so I was heaving less than a half a mile into it. My mom, the turbo hiker, kicked all of our butts to the top. I, against even my own expectations, made it to the top. Gravity was truly defied when my entire family was standing at that 3-mile marker. I must add that it was raining and the wind was blowing like a mother! It was cold. Unfortunately we couldn't take a family picture because dad was pissed beyond all belief. His triumph picture isn't exactly Kodak-worthy. All-in-all it was a great trip to the island!

Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day to all! Thanks to all those who have and are currently serving our country. I'm so proud of you and your families. God bless you and GOD BLESS AMERICA!!

Skyler and Brian Prochnow. My neighbors and good friends who are both in the Army. Brian is currently serving in Iraq. Thanks so much Brian. My prayers go out to you and your family!

OYSA 40th Ward Opening Social

So I am back in Happy Valley fora while and on Monday the 16th we had our ward opening social. We went to the Bishop's house to party like rockstars and watch Megamind. I LOVE that show! Anywho, we played water balloon volleyball. Cody and I dominated! I also played PIG with some boys on the basketball court. It was SO much fun! The burgers were quite delicious too! Shandie and I sat on the front lawn all curled up in  our blankets to watch the movie. We took some pictures after with out cute little Bishop. He is the bestest bishop ever! All in all, a very good night to be in Orem. I love my ward! =)

 

 

Ok, so the random frog picture. I was in a really wacky mood and I looked down at the tie, turned to Shandie and said, "Look, it's a chromosome." Don't ask me why...just me being random. =)

Happy Momma's Day With A Pinch Of Butter

HAPPY MOMMA'S DAY!! Oh how I LOVE my mommy! I'm so grateful for my momma and all of the things that she does for me. This last year (when I've been at college and mother-deprived) I have really come to appreciate my mother. She has been my rock. Going off on my own I'm truly grateful that my mom taught me how to cook (well, sort of), clean, do laundry, and countless other things that have saved me throughout the school year. I love you more than words can say my dear mother!

 


Today was also my dear friend Zack Butterfield's (or Butters as we call him) farewell. He will leave on Wednesday for Mexico! He is going to be such a great missionary. He's got a great sense of humor and is so strong in the gospel. he's such a rock! We've had so many good times such as:
1) Him being our soccer manager. I'll never forget that poor van full of golfer boys on the way home from our soccer game against Carbon. All of the girls were waving to them and then you hear Butters yell, "BACK OFF! THEY'RE ALL MINE!" Oh Joy!
2) Also, he would film our games. After one of our games he was climbing down from the ladder and I looked back at the perfect time (I was the only one who actually saw it) and saw Butters get his foot caught in the ladder and totally eat it! I was laughing so hard!
and 3) Going to the Last Chance Dance our junior year. That was such a fun date!
We've had so many good times and you will do great things Butters! Good luck!

 

 

~Easter in Albuquerque, New Mexico~

So this is a little late, but I promised pictures so here is our story...

Once upon a time in the Freestone palace the queen and the elder princess decided that we wanted to go spend out Easter vacation with family in New Mexico. The queen told the king and it was official, the Freestone clan was going!! WOO!

On Wednesday the 20th my family packed up, picked me up in Orem, and we set off on a 10 hour drive to Albuquerque. Holy Moses it was a long drive! When we were younger the three of us kids used to be able to lay in the backseat, no problem. However, we have all grown quite a bit and the backseat has become more of a prison than a playground. Come 11 at night when we all want to sleep, we were having difficulties decided who gets to lay on who and all that jazz. We finally came up with a solution...

Around 2:30am we pulled into my aunt Ali and uncle Boomer's house. They have an 11 year-old, Morgan, a 6 year-old, Rylee, a 4 year-old, Joslyn, and 2 year-old, Luke. They are the cutest little goobs! Well, needless to say we were woken up around 7-7:30ish, but it was worth it to see them all! Jake and I had a grand old time throwing Rylee, Joslyn, and Luke onto my bed (a.k.a. the luvsac). They got a kick out of the old "One for the money. Two for the show. Three to get ready. And Four to go!" Jake, my dad, and Luke also had a great time with doggy piling on top of each other! Luke was over the moon about Jake! He loved having some testosterone around in his house full of women!

 


While Morgan and Rylee were in school and the men were out golfing (my uncle is a sales rep for Calloway; the boys love it when they can score some free swag) we decided to take a walk around the neighborhood. Mollie had Luke on her shoulders walking by a wall. This huge dog that looked like he came out of the movie The Sandlot jumped up and started barking and I thought Luke and Mollie were going to go into cardiac arrest because they were so scared! Mollie and I had to pick every kind of leaf we could find for the little ones. We even decorated Josy's hair with all sorts of flowers. She looked like Rapunzel from Tangled! She was tickled pink being treated like a princess!

 

While we were there we got to ride on the TRAM! It is one of the longest tram's in the world and it takes you to the top of Sandia Ski Resort. It was SUPER fun and a little scary in some parts because of how high up we were. It was a bit windy on the top, but the scenery was great!

 

We found a chair lift on the backside of the tram so we all decided to take some pictures on it. It was a bit of a challenge getting on, but we made it. I was having a bit of fun on the hike so I had Jake take some dorky picture of me. Also, Joslyn was just itching to go on an adventure. Well, who can resist the sweet little voice of that 4 year-old? I just had to take her on one. =)

 

On the way back down we saw 2 black bears! It was super cool because the guy conducting the tram ride told us that they were the first ones he had seen this year. I felt pretty special. Rylee made herself a new friend and they were having a grand old time on the 15 minute ride back down. She was swinging all over the pole in the middle of the tram. She's a crazy little ball of fun! Josy, in all of her 4 foot nothing glory was mad that she couldn't see the bear so I put her on my shoulders so she could see.

 

We were also able to go to Santa Fe, where my dad served his mission 25 years ago. He was so excited to finally go back! Jake was really excited because there were a couple of girls checking him out. =) He took us to the Sante Fe plaza to see St. Francis Cathedral. It was dedicated in 1886 and is one of the oldest churches in the U.S. It was pretty nifty! The pictures on the doors were so intricate that I just had to get a picture of it! We walked around for a couple of hours and we saw old buildings. like a bajillion stores that were great fun to go in and shop around. I even ate some real Mexican food. I thought I would try to see if I liked it any better..nope. It was still full of veggies and the meat was tasteless. I think I'll stick to no spicy veggies and my A-1 steaksauce thank you.

 

 Since we had to be back Monday and that required us to be driving most of the day Sunday we had our Easter that Saturday (sorry to all of the people I texted Saturday to wish you a Hoppy Easter). It was great fun! The Easter bunny pooped all around the house (jelly beans) and the kids went wild finding their gifts as well as all of the older kids who were too lazy to go find their own =). It was about 7:30 in the morning so that is why I look a little stoned in the picture.

On Easter Sunday we headed back home. Another 10 hours in the backseat...it was long. I took a bunch of cool pics on the way. Including the infamous Hole In The Rock Cafe. We stopped in Carbon for some Pizza Hut and Jake and I really got going in a game of Big Game Hunter. Yeah...I killed him. =)

Ok, so Jake always makes fun of me for sleeping with my eyes cracked open and it freaks him out. Well, he fell asleep and I jumped at the chance to show him that he is just as weird as me =)



All in all, it was a good vacation. Thanks to Boomer and Ali for letting us invade your house. We had a blast! Can't wait to see you guys again. LOVE YOU!

Fun in Logan! (Yes, it's possible)

So on Friday the 29th and Saturday the 30th I was visiting my dear friends Jaque Johansen and Tim Wright in Logan, Utah! It was such a blast! I got there and we went to watch their friend Andrew and his band, The Mattress Tag Conspiracy, play in their clubhouse. They were pretty awesome! After that we went to catch a little bit of the Sean Kingston concert on USU campus. It was ok, we only heard like 4 songs, but I got to hear my favorite Dutty Love feat. Nikki Minaj! WOO!! We went back to the apartment and watched Casino Royal. It was pretty legit! After the movie got over at like 1:30am I went over to another girl's apartment to stay the night. We were going to go to the temple the next morning but it was completely booked at the baptismal font so that didn't happen. That afternoon we decided to go long boarding. I've never been before, but I caught on to it pretty quick. It is SOO much fun!! I got a little battle scar and so did Jaque, but it was still fun. I want to go buy a long board now. We came back to the apartment and cleaned them off and since they had no Hydrogen Peroxide we used hand sanitizer...it hurt like a mother...and Jaque made fun of me for yelling out in pain...yeah, pretty sure my battle scar trumps his in size and depth so I win. HA!

That night we had a date at their apartment. Their friend Andrew brought a girl named Aleece (spelling?),

and I was with Tim.

We had a pizza and talked about a plethora of topics before moving on to the best part of the night, RISK! That was, by far, the funnest game ever! We played in teams. We all ganged up on Jaque and Teah so they were the first ones to lose. Then Tim and I staged and EPIC comeback at the end of the game, taking over North America, part of Europe, and part of South America. Needless to say we were obliterated on Andrew and Aleece's next turn, but it was SO much fun!! =)
