Jake's Homecoming

Ok, a few weeks ago Jake asked our neighbor Jessica Heywood to the Homecoming dance. He sent her on a scavenger hunt all over Morgan. This morning we cooked breakfast for 20 teenagers! They were grouped into 10 Districts and called in to eat accordingly. After breakfast we loaded all of the kids up in the motorhome (shuttle) and took them to a park in Enterprise. Mollie and I made some signs and put them in the shuttle for dramatic effect :)

 We blindfolded all of the tributes and put them in a circle around a field of backpacks and supplies. They raced around finding all of their equipment and headed off to their first, and most difficult challenge: a math problem. Many thanks to Tara Ferrin for giving the kids a math problem (and help when they needed it). It was hilarious! In order for the kids to get help on their problem they had to do 100 push-ups as a team. I was worried about most of the girls, but they actually our-shone the boys :) They also had to build a mini-football upright and make a field goal with a paper football. Then, they headed off to the cemetery where they had to shoot spit wads at a target. From there they had to, as a team, use musical instruments and create a 30-second song and perform it. Some of then were fetching hilarious! Finally, they ended with a frisbee golf game. They had such a blast!

After the day date they packed up and went home. Mollie and I went over later to help Jess get ready for the dance. She was SO GORGEOUS!!! Of course, she always is. Jake came over to pick her up and it was so cool! It was his first date and we were all so excited!

 One of my favorite things was the wrist corsage and boutonniere. Mollie made them out of duct tape and a few other bits and pieces. They turned out awesome!

Well, the group went to dinner after that all of the parents put on and then headed off to the dance. Hope they have such a blast!

Brigham City Temple Dedication

Today was the Brigham City, Utah temple dedication. It is the 14th temple in Utah. I'm not sure if that is working or announced, but that's still AWESOME!!! The dedication was amazing! I thought it was super cool that the brethren and their wives were able to put the mortar in the "cornerstone" outside. The Brigham City temple is quickly becoming a favorite of mine because of its simple elegance.
Temples are such a beautiful thing to have because I feel closest to my Savior there and I know that I am able to be a missionary to my brothers and sisters on the other side of the veil. I'm so excited to go through one day and make those sacred covenants with my Heavenly Father!

National Hug a Soccer Player Day

So Mollie came downstairs this morning and informed me that it was National Hug a Soccer Player Day. Well, I couldn't pass up the opportunity for a photo op, so we all got our hug in this morning! :)

The Future Work Horse of Uraguay

So Sunday was one of my best friend Jantz Arbon's farewell. He is serving in the Uraguay, Montevido West Mission and he reports to the Buenos Aires, Argentina MTC next week. Our dads were best friends all throughout jr. high and high school so I've known Jantz, quite literally, since he was born. Our families have done all sorts of things and had many interesting adventures over the years. Everything from running 4-wheelers into fences to trying to dump eachother off of the jet-skis in Bear Lake to basketball in the swimming pool, to ping pong in the garage, we've done a lot!
I'm really going to miss teasing him about being a girl and sharing some "interesting" CNA stories :) So, good luck on the mission buddy. Go out and be "the Work Horse of Uraguay!" See ya in 2!

Ogden Valley Mitey Mites

So my little cousin Porter, or Pip as we call him, is playing football for the Ogden Valley Mitey Mites. For those of you who didn't grow up around football that is a group of 9 & 10 year-olds. They are just so cute running around passing, blocking, and playing football. Pip is a fast little bugger and he ran for 3 touchdowns! Seriously, the kid rushes for more yards than most NFL players! He's such a stud!

And for a quick side note: at the game I was sitting with my cousin Luke and I asked him to do the Haka and he confused it for "hie-ya" (insert karate voice) and this is what I got instead:

Miss Rilee's Baptism

On Saturday, October 1, 2012 my little cousin Rylee Smith was baptized. She was glowing in her dress and she was just so excited and hugging everyone in sight! We took a bunch of pictures and we couldn't wait!

There were several weather watches throughout the area and they were there for a good reason. This is what it looked like outside

Ok, so obviously the best part of this day for me was seeing my little cousin enter into the waters of baptism to make those special covenants with her Heavenly Father. SO PROUD! My second favorite moment though, was the fact that she asked my little brother to perform her baptism. She always talked about it when she was younger and it was so touching for me to see it become a reality. I'm so proud of my cousin and so proud of Jake for being a worthy preisthood holder so that he could do the baptism :)

Everything went smoothly. Rylee's feet came up a little bit, but not out of the water so we were safe. When we went in for her confirmation Rylee's three cousins on the Medsker side, fondly referred to as The Twinkies, did a beautiful rendition on "I Am A Child Of God" and Boomer confirmed Rylee a member of the church and gave her the Holy Ghost. It was so beautiful and I love my family and I love this gospel! :)
